D&F Christmas Party Songs

The D&F top Christmas party songs

Are we all ready to start talking about it yet? Before we know it, we won’t have a choice as the town centres will have their lights up, the office secret Santa names will be drawn and Love Actually is on the TV. But our favourite part of the festive season is the Christmas party songs! Whilst we love a taste of the traditional on Christmas Eve in the local church, the festive preamble is all about the cheesy tunes.

So, whilst this list is far from definitive (and may well prompt a conversation or two at your coffee table!) here, in no particular order, are the Dazzle and Fizz top five Christmas party songs of all time with some suggested festive party games thrown in for good measure.

East 17 – Stay Another Day. OK, so we know that this song largely has nothing to do with Christmas and that adding some bells to the backing track and donning some questionable white fur lined puffa jackets for the video doesn’t change that. But, just the opening chords of this song are enough to transport us back to the festive school disco and all the hilarious awkwardness which went with it. The relatively slow pace of this song could work well for a round of Balloon Relay so the little ones can at least pretend to concentrate on the task!

The Pogues and Kirsty McColl – Fairytale of New York. The original music video from 1987 is shot in beautiful black and white for a real old school feel. Stay true to the traditional with flashes of silver across your Christmas party table with the Dazzle and Fizz silver star cups with matching silver metallic paper straws, which are kind to the environment. This is a great song for the parents to enjoy so it could be the perfect option for during snack time when the little ones are otherwise occupied.

Mariah Carey – All I Want For Christmas. With her signature high notes (youuuuuuuu!), no festive bash would be complete without a rendition of this Christmas classic. Almost as iconic as the tune itself is the red Santa outfit our 90s pop princess wears in the music video. Get the same splash of colour at your party with our red napkins, plates and cups.  This high-energy song would be great for a round of Musical Chairs so the party guests can burn off some energy.

Wizzard – I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday. We may not be able to afford a repeat of the festive season too often when it comes to the damage that could do to our wallets and waistlines. But, keep a stash of our gold star plates in your cupboard to add a splash of sparkle to your meal table long after the tinsel has been taken down. Keep the Christmas traditions coming and use this song for a game of Pass the Parcel at your festive bash.

Michael Buble – Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. There is little in life as smooth as a Buble rendition of a Christmas classic. Whilst all of his festive tunes feature on our seasonal Spotify playlist, this beauty has to come top of the nice list for us. Save this one for near the end of the occasion and see if the kids can do a festive version of Sleepy Bunnies to this one.
